Congrats Shianne on your two kittens!

Shianne had a very long sleepless night last night and so did my mom and I. She had her first kitten at 2:30pm and her second and 10:30pm. Well when people tell you they like to give birth and take care of there kittens alone....that was NOT how Shianne was going to do it. The minute my mom or I left the room Shianne would MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW for hours on end until one of us would come in the room and give her a good belly rub. She didn't want to stay and have her kittens, feed her kittens, or even sit with her kittens with out our support. My mom and I took turns sleeping by her box so that she would relax and stay in it. By 3 or 4 this morning she finally took to her kittens moved them from the box outside of the closet to the one inside the closet and sleep with them with out us having to be by her till about 7 this morning. She is now walking around the house meowing trying to get my mom or I do pet her. She has been a very good mommy so far and does come everytime her babies call.

The first baby that came is Shazu's marking with Shianne's color of light brown cinnamon, and the second one is Shianne's calico markings but with Shazu's white silver blue, and black. Very cute and doing well!

Marari The Miracle Chin Welcomes the World!

After posting that I finally found something on the internet. It said that the mom helps open the eyes and if she doesn't the baby could lose his eyes! So I ran in the room with a warm wash cloth wiped his eyes really good! And slowly helped open the eyes a couple of blinks and she was ready to explore a new world! I feel m uch better now!

Marari The Miracle Chin...

Yesterday Aaron and I where cleaning the outside of our house while having a bonfire and walking in and out of the garage. Well in my travels in and out I see a baby chinchilla with his head stuck through the kennel lifeless. My heart just broke, I carefully took his lifeless body out of the cage carefully pushing his head back through the fencing on the cage. I set him on the counter and walked outside and told Aaron, Isabelle, Laurel, and Mom Carr that bad news. I walked back in the garage to get him and throw him to the birds and to my surprise I see a little foot kick. Now chinchillas or "kits" are born active, eyes open, and with fur. So I pick up the body and start to warm it up 2 hrs later she started squeaking. Now this morning Marari, meaning miracle, Is bouncing around. Unfortunately, her eyes are not open. I have been reading some breeding websites to see it this means she is blind and the only thing I have found says that some times the birthing fluid dries on their eyes and cements them shut. So today Aaron and I are going in to town to get saline solution and see if we can't get her little eyes open. All in all she is doing great and we will keep you up dated. For all who are wondering this brings me up to 6 chinchillas. (Aaron is a great husband but I think he might kill me if anymore come.....)
